Reboot again, try a regular safe mode, it just reboots on its own yet again, so then try with command prompt again and works. Reboot in safe mode with command prompt to have it run a checkdisk (at least now I can!), then try to boot normally and another blue screen when it should get to desktop. Rebooted yesterday when I saw an update required a reboot and since then very poor performance, odd HDD access patterns, and last night blue screen.
